The £10 million redevelopment of the Clyde riverfront will take a leap forward this week with city planners due to recommend permission for pavilions housing bars, restaurants and cafes.

The focus of WaterfrontExpo 2011 was firmly on actual experience and progress made in waterfront regeneration.
Case studies from Barcelona, Chicago, Marseille and Yokohama, plus Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow hilghighted the fundamental importance of building strong links with the private sector and how these relatuonships have worked out in practice.
Supporting these case studies was a comprehensive programme comprising:
- City Workshop Round Table: Existing developers and investors in the waterfronts of Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow explained what attracted them to invest and what new opportunities have been created.
- Site visits by boat to key developments on the Clyde and Edinburgh waterfronts.
- Multimedia presentation utilising performance, expert presentations and film to illustrate how Dundee is becoming a major cultural centre.
- Concluding Round Table: the key lessons of waterfront regeneration to date and meeting the challenge of raising new funding and finance.
- Presentation on preparations on how the 2014 Commonwealth Games will stimulate Glasgow’s economy.
- Tour of BBC Scotland HQ at Pacific Quay, Glasgow (numbers limited).
- Official Civic Reception at Glasgow’s new Riverside Museum designed by world famous architect Zaha Hadid.
