Several diverse, dramatic and imaginative case studies will form the centre-piece of WaterfrontExpo Glasgow 2006. The case studies offer a unique insight into the planning, strategy, financing, design, construction, marketing and management of successful waterfront developments from around the world.
The case studies to be selected will all have achieved excellence in some way. Some have developed retail outlets as their central feature; others have successfully incorporated leisure or residential components into their fabric; several have incorporated commercial and corporate real estate and a number have integrated all these elements and in so-doing created thriving mixed-use waterfront developments.

In order to assist conference delegates in selecting which sessions to attend, and to provide greater structure to the conference, the case studies have now been grouped into themed sessions. Three dynamic case studies will feature in each of the following sessions:
the city as an ‘enabler’ of economic growth; positioning cities in a competitive global market; demographics, governance
Public Private Partnerships; attracting investment; working with corporate and public entities
Engaging with communities; community development; ecology, economics and society; culture and heritage
Creating ‘liveable cities’; impact of design on the quality of life; master-planned communities, spatial development strategies
Creative and highly ‘visual’, these case studies have been specially selected for executives wishing to learn from the successes and failures of waterfront projects from around the world.
