The growing global trend of regeneration and development of waterfront locations has attracted an unprecedented number of international speakers to the WaterfrontExpo 2006 conference.

Delegates to the three day conference and exhibition set to take place in Glasgow , Scotland , will hear representatives from 13 countries highlight projects and the issues involved in creating a successful waterfront development.

Mark Beaumont, director of organisers Media Generation Events, said:”Waterfront development is a global enterprise that is growing at an incredible pace. There is hardly an area of the world that doesn't have a major ongoing project involving billions of dollars of investment.”

“The increased interest in this area of development is reflected in the number of people who want to showcase their project at WaterfrontExpo. This year for the first time we have had to turn down applications for case studies from America , the Middle East, Russia and the UK .”

A total of twelve international projects will be presented to delegates at the conference which is being staged in Glasgow at the heart of Scotland 's largest regeneration programme Clyde Waterfront.

A new feature on the conference programme, which runs from October 17-19, is a series of nine interactive Focus Sessions allowing delegates to discuss, debate and share knowledge on common issues.

The topics range from Funding Waterfront Development - The Istanbul Experience to Marketing Waterfronts Internationally, led by Maureen Thomson, Director of Marketing, V & A Waterfront, Cape Town , South Africa .

Key note addresses will be delivered by four leading professionals including
Wayne Hemingway, Hemingway Design, UK who will talk on Waterfront Design and Robert Lee, Director of Business Development, Nakheel Properties, Dubai , whose topic will be Funding Waterfront Development.

Mark Beaumont commented:”The conference is not just about excellent individual projects. We want people to look beyond their own horizons and see the bigger picture and understand the strategies that cities should employ to capitalise on the potential of waterfronts. There will also be opportunities to discuss the detail of translating strategies into reality via planning, design, construction and management techniques based on best practice and shared experience.”

A wide range of exhibitors from the UK , Portugal , Russia , Latvia , Italy , Germany , South Africa have already confirmed their presence at WaterfrontExpo 2006.
