Site visits and local tours

With such a wealth of interesting waterfront locations in the greater Glasgow region, site visits and local tours available to all delegates form an integral part of the conference programme.

Note: All tours depart from the front of the SECC.

Tuesday 17 October

11.00am

Walking tour of Glasgow city centre
Incorporating the waterfront and buildings of historic and architectural interest. Buses will depart from the front of the SECC at 11.00am sharp.

2.30pm

Clyde waterfront tour
2½ hour waterfront tour by boat along the River Clyde
(This is preceded by a tour briefing at the SECC)

Wednesday 18 October

Note: you should choose between the following tours:

12.00pm

Glasgow's canal-side developments (returns 1.15pm)
Site visits by coach to Speirs Wharf, New Rotterdam Wharf and Union Canal. This site visit will follow a presentation that focuses on the Glasgow Canal Regeneration Project (GCRP) which aims to create a sustainable corridor of waterside regeneration to positively influence around 1000 acres in North Glasgow – an area of severe deprivation that the canal passes through.

Renfrew Riverside (returns 1.15pm)
Called one of the most important strategic locations in Scotland, Renfrew Riverside is undergoing a massive transformation. This highly significant urban regeneration project, will take an estimated 10 years to complete. The site visit will commence with a narrated drive around the 320 acre site followed by a visit to, and presentation in, the magnificent Braehead Shopping Centre.

Thursday 19 October

12.15pm

Tour of Glasgow Harbour
Glasgow Harbour - a new National Waterfront Destination in Scotland . The vision is to create and deliver a world-class iconic waterfront development centred on the confluence of the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde. Together with the residential accommodation being constructed under the approved masterplan, it will deliver major urban regeneration, breathing new life and opportunity into this former shipbuilding and warehousing area of Glasgow.

17.15pm

Xscape
What better way to end a busy conference than a trip to Xscape? Billed as "The ultimate entertainment destination offering a unique combination of extreme sports and leisure activities for all ages", the trip to Xscape will offer delegates an ideal place to unwind. A brief drinks reception will be followed by enough free time to experience what this unique venue has to offer. A bus returns to the SECC at 19.30 (although many will decide to stay!)
