WaterfrontExpo Riga 2005

Event Summary:

Feedback from participants suggests that WaterfrontExpo Riga 2005 was, once again, a great success. A number of participants of previous WaterfrontExpo events informed us that this event established more of a "connection" with the host city when compared to both the London and Amsterdam editions.

Marketing WaterfrontExpo 2005 proved to be challenging, largely due to people's perception that Riga is a far-flung city that is difficult to get to. Even so, we were delighted to welcome around 360 participants from 35 countries to our event. As usual, delegates travelled from great distances to be at this event - including Australia, Brazil and the Caribbean.

Apart from a conference programme that appears to have been very well received, for many people there were two highlights of the conference: the boat tour and the Mayor of Riga's evening reception. Both events proved to be relaxing and useful in terms of networking.

Participants overwhelmingly endorsed Riga as a good choice for this event, saying that the city was beautiful, interesting and hospitable. As regards the venue - the Riga Congress Centre - it is generally held that the venue was conveniently located and that the services were excellent.

Although we were a little disappointed at the size of the exhibition this year, we were delighted that the host cities of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 events were all present in the exhibition.

The Conference:

A very intensive and varied conference programme featured 11 waterfronts from around the world: Riga, Hong Kong, Cairns, Rotterdam, Southampton, Helsinki, Liverpool, Lisbon, Mumbai, Athens and Anacostia.
