WaterfrontExpo 2007 - Lisbon ends on record high

WaterfrontExpo celebrated its fifth anniversary by setting a new international attendance record with representation from 40 countries and 72 waterfront cities.  In total, more than 530 people attended the event. In addition, an unprecedented 34 members of the international media attended the event.

As expected, one of the highlights of the event was the presentation by Lord Rogers, the Chairman of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, and long time colleague Lennart Grut, the director of Richard Rogers Design Inc. They presented the case study 'Almada Nascente – Cidade da Agua (Eastern Almada – The Water City)' which Lord Rogers described it as "One of the most exciting projects I've ever been involved in."

Commenting on the event, WaterfrontExpo Project Director, Mark Beaumont, said: “Broadly speaking we are very satisfied with the 2007 event and it appears that for the vast majority of participants it surpassed their expectations. However, in line with our strategy of continual improvement, we plan to freshen up the format. We have some very exciting ideas but are awaiting the results of our delegate survey before implementing any changes.”

Mark added: “We have already started working on WaterfrontExpo 2008 in Liverpool. The success of the event depends to a large extent on the relationship with local partners and we are delighted to say that Liverpool is already proving to be a highly enthusiastic and dynamic partner."
