Partner tour programme – FREE OF CHARGE!
Further to the enormous success of our programme of tours and activities for partners at recent WaterfrontExpo events, a full programme of partner tours will again be offered in Liverpool.NOTE: This is free of charge and runs alongside the conference giving partners the opportunity to discover areas of local interest and tours are hosted by professional guides. In addition to the tours outlined, partners of registered delegates are welcome to join the waterfront boat tour and Welcome Reception on 3 November, and the Civic Reception on 4 November.
MONDAY 3 NOVEMBER
Morning guided walk of Albert DockFor delegates and partners
10.00 – 11.00

Situated in the largest group of Grade I listed buildings in the UK and adjacent to the conference venue, the Albert Dock houses many award winning visitor attractions. This informal opening to WaterfrontExpo 2008 provides the perfect opportunity to learn about the International Slavery Museum, the famous Beatles Story, the Tate Liverpool art gallery and other points of interest in the dock. Other landmarks will also be pointed out.

There's no better way to experience Liverpool and Merseyside – and get ready for the Welcome reception - than from the deck of the world famous Mersey Ferry. You'll learn about the city and the region's fascinating history, see its spectacular sights and discover its unique character.
TUESDAY 4 NOVEMBER
Chester and Port Sunlight tourPartner tour
9.30 – 17.00

Port Sunlight was built by soap entrepreneur William Lever to gave his workers better housing in aesthetically pleasing surroundings. The tour continues with the picturesque historic Roman town of Chester with its mix of Medieval streets, ancient history and Georgian architecture. It was here that the 20th Roman Legion, conquerors of Iceni Warrior Queen Boadicea, built Fortress Deva to repel Welsh Tribes. The tour offers participants time to walk around the traffic free city centre to enjoy superb shopping facilities.
WEDNESDAY 5 NOVEMBER
Speke Hall tourPartner tour
9.30 – 13.00

Speke Hall, four miles from the city located on the river, is owned by the National Trust and is one of the most important surviving timber framed buildings in England. During its 500 years in existence its bedrooms have been slept in by Kings, its walls given refuge to priests and legend has it that various ghosts roam the hallways.

Wherever you turn in Liverpool you’ll discover impressive architecture, fascinating museums and galleries, vibrant theatres and superb shopping. This guided tour of the city will show all the highlights including the Beatles magical mystery tour – see at first hand world famous landmarks including John and Paul’s homes, Strawberry Field, Penny Lane and the Cavern, where it all began.
